What teleradiology changes for a facility

Teleradiology separates where an image is acquired from where it is read. The study stays at your facility; the images travel over a secure channel to a reporting radiologist, and the report comes back to the same place. Nothing about your equipment changes.

For a facility in Ethiopia, three pressures tend to drive the enquiry:

  • After-hours studies. Films acquired overnight or at the weekend wait for a radiologist to be on site. Remote reporting lets the study be read while the patient is still reachable.
  • Subspecialty reading. Some studies benefit from a reader who reports that body region or modality routinely. Whether one is available to you is confirmed per engagement.
  • Reporting backlogs. A queue that builds during a busy week can be worked down remotely instead of compounding.

None of this depends on new machinery. It depends on an arrangement that matches your modality mix, your volume and your urgency pattern — which is why every engagement starts with a facility profile rather than a price list.

How an engagement works

Four steps, agreed in writing before the first study is sent.

1. Facility profile

The modalities you operate, indicative monthly volume, urgency mix, your escalation contact and the identifiers your site uses. This decides the schedule and the reporting targets.

2. Secure transfer

Images move over the secure channel named in the agreement. Identifiable patient information is not sent over messaging apps or social channels, and we do not ask for it there.

3. Reporting

Studies are read against the targets agreed for your site. Urgent and routine work are triaged separately, and a named reader finalises each report.

4. Report and escalation

A structured report returns through the portal. Where a finding is critical, your named clinician is notified and the time of notification is recorded.

Modalities covered

Seven modalities from launch. Availability for your site is confirmed at enquiry.

X-ray

Chest, skeletal, abdominal and trauma radiographs. Read the X-ray scope.

CT

Non-contrast and contrast studies, routine and emergency. Read the CT scope.

MRI

Routine, contrast and advanced sequences. Read the MRI scope.

Ultrasound

Including Doppler where indicated, subject to the site conditions set out in the service notes. Read the ultrasound conditions.

Mammography

Reported using BI-RADS. Read the mammography scope.

Fluoroscopy and echocardiography

Fluoroscopic studies and echocardiography reporting. See the full service list.

Scope and limits, stated plainly

HakimeRAD is a reporting service for institutions. We do not scan patients, do not accept individual patient referrals, and do not provide a diagnosis directly to a patient. The referring clinician at your facility remains responsible for the patient.

We are pre-launch. Individual services, turnaround targets and subspecialty availability are confirmed at the point of enquiry rather than assumed from this page. Where a study depends on site conditions — ultrasound is the clear example — those conditions are stated in the service notes and confirmed with you.

What we will not do: describe a turnaround as guaranteed, publish a certification we do not hold, or quote a statistic we cannot source.

Questions facilities ask first

No. We work with institutions, not individual patients. A study reaches us through the facility that performed it, under an agreement with that facility.

X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography (BI-RADS), fluoroscopy and echocardiography. Which of these is available to your facility is confirmed at enquiry, because it depends on your equipment, protocol and image quality.

The target is agreed per engagement and written into it. The published service page states the indicative targets we plan around — urgent within four hours, routine within twenty-four — with after-hours cover treated separately.

It is designed to complement one. Facilities with no on-site radiologist use it for cover; facilities with one use it for after-hours work, backlog or a second read.

From the insights

All insights

Notes on diagnostic capacity, remote reporting and procurement, written for facilities rather than patients. Every figure published here carries its source and year.

Start with your facility profile

Send your facility name, city, equipment and indicative monthly volume. We will confirm which services are available to you and what the engagement would look like.
